The project is located in Shanghai, China and is the first green power project in China to install photovoltaics on existing sound barriers. In 2017, all the sound barrier plates of this road were provided by Polyshine, the parent company of Polyshine Solar. It has been in operation for 8 years since its opening and still performs very well.
The issue of tempered glass spontaneous breakage is particularly pronounced in noise barrier applications due to vibrations caused by passing vehicles. Additionally, the heavy weight and challenging installation of traditional glass photovoltaic modules make them unsuitable for such projects.
Moreover, the traffic on this road is very busy, so it is required to be installed quickly to reduce the impact on urban traffic.
Polyshine Solar’s lightweight and flexible photovoltaic modules, encapsulated with high-polymer materials, are 70% lighter than traditional glass modules. They offer excellent vibration resistance, eliminating the risk of spontaneous breakage. The lighter weight also simplifies installation and maintenance, making the “photovoltaic + noise barrier” model a practical reality.
